Bray Wyatt’s story had me in tears more than once and I actually really appreciated it.
This documentary is the best way to kick-off Wrestlemania week. Bray Wyatt might not get inducted into the Hall of Fame this year, but his story will now be engraved into everyone hearts and minds who watched this film.
Windham Rotunda’s story isn’t just important to the WWE Universe but also to every other kid who was made to feel like a weirdo or the outsider. Bray Wyatt’s character is synonymous with being the misfit in world where people all want to follow the stream of what’s trending.
One of the reason I fell back in love with wrestling again is the creativity and the stories. As a kid I enjoyed the fights, as an adult I appreciate the character work. And there is no character as creative as Bray Wyatt. He was the character that adapted with changing times – even when it seemed impossible.
Windham’s story on the other hand is one that strongly resonates with me. I see a lot of myself in him. He faced obstacles that would’ve broken the average person, but he kept pushing. His trials became his creative outlet. He chose to make art out of his pain.
Undertaker’s narration perfectly fits the documentary, because it highlights the similarity their characters shared. It emphasises the uniqueness of each character. Each and everyone of the interviewees stories about Windham impacted me. The director showcased the larger than life Bray Wyatt as a simple man.
The film made me think about my life and the legacy I hope to leave behind someday. Like I said, I see a lot of myself in Windham. He was a man who was passionate and that caused him to have a deep emotional connection to what mattered to him. I hope that my story can impact other’s like the story of Windham.
This is a must-watch documentary, even if you’re not a fan of Bray Wyatt or wrestling. It’s a film that explores the humanity of a superstar and the importance of family and friends. Bray Wyatt might be gone, but his story, his character, his creativity and his legacy will live on forever.
