It’s my birthday week! And because I’m getting older, I decided it’s time for you to get to know me better through the TV shows, movies and games I love.
TV has always been a safe place for me. I remember coming home from school, skipping lunch and running straight to the TV because it was time for Power Rangers or something else. I couldn’t wait for night time to watch My Name is Earl or Malcolm in the Middle.
Things haven’t changed much, even though I watch movies and TV for a living – I just can’t wait to watch one of my favourite shows after a long and busy day. I love to just drift away and be entertained by my favourite characters. And here’s a hot take, sitcoms > dramas! I love a good sitcom. Anyway, here’s my top 10 favourite TV shows of all time.
10. Malcolm in the Middle

This is one of those shows that just feels nostalgic. I recently re-watched the whole series and I couldn’t help but feel like a child again. It is a realistic take on a middle-class family life, I can’t help but see myself in their home. I heard rumours of continuation or reboot, all I want is for the original cast to come back.
9. Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers

Some say it didn’t age well, I say that’s part of it’s charm. It’s one of those shows that just transports you back to the 90s. It’s campy, it has great action, big monsters and teenagers with attitude. I don’t think any modern show can top that. I know Power Rangers Zeo is the best, but nothing can beat the original.
8. Suits

A favourite of my dad and I. We used to binge watch seasons every weekend. It just doesn’t get better than that. It’s one of those dramas with iconic dialogue and acting that forever stays with you. Harvey Specter is an all-time favourite character of mine. The best thing about Suits is, it gets better with every watch.
7. Brooklyn Nine-Nine

I know it’s a little low on the list, but there are so many other sitcoms that I’m totally addicted to. The Nine Nine is a feel good show, it’s one of the few series’ that gets me laughing every single time. It has a large ensemble cast and each and everyone brings something special to the table. Jake Peralta will always be the best detective.
6. Breaking Bad

I still believe Breaking Bad is the best TV show to ever exist, unfortunately it’s not one that I re-watch that often. Walter White and Jesse Pinkman are iconic, and I love how the show keeps getting better with each season. It’s also one of the only shows that has a perfect ending. I still need to watch Better Call Saul in its entirety.
5. Game of Thrones

I got into Game of Thrones after 4 seasons had already aired, so I didn’t get the initial hype. And once I started watching it, I was hooked. Thankfully the hype only died with the awful final season. So disregarding the last season, Game of Thrones still is one of the best. I binged the first 4 seasons in a couple of days, I think I even took off from work to do it. Also House of the Dragon redeemed the franchise.
4. The Boys

The most offensive show ever and it’s also one of the best ever. The Boys go where other shows are to afraid to go and with that they give us excellent stories and awesome characters. We all want Homelander dead, but we also want to see what he will do next. I can’t contain my excitement for season 4, the teasers have been awesome.
3. Daredevil

There has never been another superhero show like Daredevil. It was peak Marvel. Season 1 and 2 will forever be known as some of the best seasons of television. I really hope Daredevil: Born Again can live up to it. Season 3 still gives me chills and it easily turned Daredevil into one of my favourite Marvel character.
2. Parks and Recreation

It’s hard putting this at 2, because at times it is my number one. No show has made me love TV more than Parks and Rec, and that’s why Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza and Nick Offerman will always be some of my favourite actors. Their characters represent different sides of my personality. I think it’s time for another re-watch.
1. How I Met Your Mother

Everyone who knows me, knows I love How I Met Your Mother. It’s the show I quote the most and it’s the show that kept me going through the worse days of my life. Marshall Erikson is probably one of the best TV characters of all-time, and Barney Stinson is probably one of the most entertaining of all-time. How I Met Your Mother is the only show I’ve watched in it’s entirety more than probably 10 times. And don’t talk to me about the series finale.
