I love movies and that’s why I do this job.
It’s kind of hard to choose just 10 movies out of thousands, because each film means something special to me. I fell in love with film when I was about 3 or 4 years old. The first time I watched The Lion King on VHS was magical. The first time I watched E.T. on M-Net was like a fantasy and the first time I walked into a cinema I felt like I found a place where I belong.
I love film and it means everything to me. I don’t know what will be on this list, because it’s ever-changing. There are a few movies that will always be in my Top-10 and some come and go. The list I’m giving you now all depended on how I’m feeling now. You can see my full evolving list on Letterboxd. And here are my top 10 favorite movies of all-time.
10. Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

A New Hope might’ve started it all, but there’s no denying that Empire is far superior to all Star Wars movies. It is one of those movies with an unforgettable twist, something I hope to show my kids someday. Luke Skywalker became a legend and Darth Vader became the most formidable villain to ever grace our screens. I hope I get to watch this in a movie theater someday.
9. The Breakfast Club

I have a thing for 80s movies. Breakfast Club is one of those movies that everyone has to watch at least once. It is iconic and awesome. It is story that’s still relevant today, because each of the characters represent someone we know or maybe even ourselves. It’s a great film, but not favorite John Hughes film.
8. Dumb and Dumber

Jim Carey will always be one of my favourite actors. Dumb and Dumber is one of those movies I’ve watched in every stage of my life and come to think of it, it’s probably time for a re-watch. It’s a film that inspired hundreds of comedies that came after it. I don’t think comedy would’ve been what it is today without the influence of this movie.
7. The Avengers

Call me crazy for having this on my list, but I love the MCU. This movie made us believe in the impossible – Marvel Studios was able to pull off one of the biggest crossovers cinema has ever seen. Do I think this is the best MCU movie? No, but it’s certainly the one that turned me into a lifelong fan. I stood in long lines just to get my ticket.
6. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

This movie is so good that I still can’t stop talking about it. In my opinion this is the best film to come from John Hughes. Even though it came out long before I was born, I still wished I got to have an awesome “off day” like Ferris. And for some reason this movie made me want to visit Chicago. It’s one of the best comedies of the last 50 years.
5. E.T.

I don’t know what it is about this movie, but it always stuck with me. I haven’t re-watched it a lot, but I just love it. I think it has something to do with the fact that it’s one of the first movies I remember watching on TV. Steven Spielberg became one of my all-time favorite filmmakers simply because of the big impact this film had on me.
4. Dune: Part Two

The most recent movie on my list and it definitely deserves its place among the greatest of all-time. It is one of the most beautiful movies I’ve ever seen, and I haven’t even gotten to the story yet. I think seeing it IMAX gives it extra points, but even without that it’s still one of the greatest stories ever told. It will always be special.
3. The Lion King

My favorite animated movie of all-time and also one of my favorite childhood memories. I remember going over to our neighbors’ house when I was about 4 or 5 just to watch this movie. When I turned 10 I bough my own VHS copy, one I still have to this day and I have to say it’s one of my most prized possessions. This is the movie that made love movies.
2. Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame

These shouldn’t be number 2, but it is. I thought the first Avengers was great, but nothing can top this. Infinity War and Endgame share this spot, because it’s basically one long movie. These films are the reason why people still go see Marvel moments. I don’t think there has ever been bigger cinematic event. I can never shake the feeling I got when Captain America picked up Mjolnir.
1. Oppenheimer

The movie that made me fall in love with cinema again. Christopher Nolan made the best movie I’ve ever seen out of story that most people didn’t even care for. It is a masterpiece and I will forever be grateful that I got to watch this in cinema. It gave me reason to want to go to movie theaters again. It is and will be my favourite movie for a long time to come.
