We’re so f’ing back! This movie is all you hoped for and so much more.
For the first time in years I had zero skepticism before walking into a movie and for the first time ever I was more than just impressed. This is the movie the MCU needed. This is the movie the superhero genre needed. This is the movie the global box office needed.
It is unapologetically violent and vulgar at times, but what else can you expect from the Merc with A Mouth. I was laughing from start to finish. And I’m not just talking blowing air through my nose laughing, no, I actually cry laughed at one point.
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman finally got to do their passion project and I’m here for it. The two most brutal mutants go at it several times. I can’t believe how many times I saw them stab each other. The two actors have this off-screen friendly rivalry that translates great onto the screen.
They are the duo that will save the universe, one head shot or cut throat at a time. There are many other actors in this film, but the two leads definitely make it worthwhile. Emma Corrin is brilliant as Cassandra Nova, but unfortunately I think people will easily forget about the villain.
The film once again step into the MCU-villain trap, but then again this is a movie about antiheroes, not villains. The story itself is fantastic, and I wish we got to see more of this Multiverse of Madness. I feel like this movie explore the endless possibilities of the multiverse more.
The movie isn’t perfect unfortunately, it feels like Deadpool doesn’t push the limits of the MCU enough. There are a bunch of, “ I can’t believe that just said or did that” moments. The positives however far outweigh the negative.
I can say this is one of the best Wolverine performances from Jackman ever – it comes down between this and Logan. And I also can’t forget that awesome scene in X-Men: Apocalypse (even though the movie is forgettable). It great to see Ryan just have fun with Deadpool again.
And for those wondering if this is Endgame level, well not exactly. The stakes are high, but it doesn’t feel that high. The movie does carry an emotional punch for both leads. I think I might’ve almost shed a tear once or twice.
It has some great and unexpected cameos, you just need to look close to spot some. And there are so many easter eggs, I probably missed half of them. The movie does have a fun post-credits scene and pays homage to the Fox Marvel Universe.
This really feels like the end of an era, while also feeling like the beginning of a new one. I can’t wait for the X-Men, Deadpool, Wolverine, Fantastic Four, Daredevil and all other superheros and villains to join the Sacred Timeline..
