Imagine this, you’re stuck in the wilderness with absolutely nothing and the only way to survive is to give in to your savage side.
Yellowjackets is back in a scary way. The more the mystery of these girls unfold, the more questions I have. Season 3 starts of a few weeks after the traumatic end of the last season. Both the kids and their adult counterparts are still trying to make sense of what transpired, while trying to go back to “normal”.
I love the first 3 episodes and I can honestly say this show has yet to disappoint me. From the first episode of season 3 you’re back into this mystery of what happened to Yellowjackets in the wilderness. If you think you had a few questions after the previous season finale, just wait until you watch this.
Each episode leaves you wanting more and in a sense it delivers, while still leaving you in suspense. A lot of characters arcs are wrapped up in the first episode, but it leads to the start of more mystery. I’m not here to spoil the show, just to give an honest review.
My review is, this is still a 5-star show. Everything from the writing, to the pacing, to the acting is brilliant. I thought there wasn’t much story left to tell, but I was surprised by what’s yet to come. There’s still a lot of mystery surrounding what transpired in the previous seasons.
I think it’s fair to say that some fans will finally get what they wanted, while others might still be hoping for a different outcome. That’s what I love about this show, you never really know how savage these girls can get.
The supernatural element reached a peak with the second season, but wait… There’s more to come. It just leaves you asking more questions. Some of the characters once again demand your attention when they’re on the screen. Christina Ricci and Melanie Lynskey are awesome, I guess they are aiming for the Emmy Awards once again.
This season also introduces new characters. Two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby) and Critics’ Choice nominee Joel McHale (Community) join the cast this season, but I can’t say anything about their roles. Let me also be a little mysterious.
Yellowjackets is an underrated show and I hope more people start to watch it. It’s worth all the hype and I’m excited to watch the rest of the season unravel.
