I’m glad this movie exist, because the world needs a little more Paddington Bear.
This crazy action adventure movie is one of the best movies I’ve seen all year, and I know we’re bearly two months into 2025 – you just have to watch it to understand. It easily made its way into my top 10 movies so far, and I don’t see it giving up its spot. Paddington in Peru is just that good.
As always, I’lll start with the reason I gave it 4 and a half stars instead of 5. Paddington 2 set the bar so high, that it’s impossible for any sequel to reach it. This film has all the tools to make it masterpiece, but it just didn’t reach the height of its prequel. That said, it almost got there and it is almost flawless.
The Paddington franchise is known for its wholesomeness and this one really pulls at your heart strings. Paddington’s innocence and kindness is once again the driving force of the film’s plot. In this film Paddington and the Browns travel to Peru to search for his Aunt Lucy after she apparently disappeared, but during their travels they are caught up in a few shady characters’ search for the lost city of El Dorado.
The film not only takes the cast and the viewers into unknown territories, but it also opens the door for a lot of funny moments. Of course Paddintong is the star of the show, but the film is carried by some exceptional performances and it’s great to see Antonio Banderas just having fun.
Paddington always reminds us that humility and gentleness goes a long way. That’s what’s amazing about this franchise, it’s for the whole family. Dad gets his action adventure, mum gets her kind-hearted story and the kids get to be in Paddington’s shoes for few minutes.
So not only will recommend this movie for everyone, I want to encourage everyone to go watch it. The world is messed up at the moment, and Paddington in Peru can bring a little joy into your life. So go check it out. And please be open minded, don’t expect Indiana Jones, it’s still just a family adventure flick
