Comic Con Cape Town is almost here and this year’s event promises to be the biggest one yet.
I’ve been to several Comic Cons in the past and I’ve never been more excited for one than this year. I attended the first Comic Con Cape Town a few years ago and it was life-changing. Now as someone who can go full-geek if he wants to, this year I’m definitely going to be full Super Saiyan ultimate geek. Here are 5 things I look forward to most.
Star Wars Day
Isn’t it awesome that Ian McDiarmid, the Emperor Palpatine will be at Comic Con Cape Town this year? And what makes it even better is that it will be on Star Wars Day! We get to revive the Empire while the rebellion is still sound asleep! I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I watched the Empire Strikes Back when I was 6 years old. So getting to see the guy who ran the best empire ever and celebrate a special day with him – is a dream come true.
Artist Alley
I have to be honest, I usually don’t spend enough time with the artists. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate their work but I’m usually so busy with other stuff that I don’t get to look at or even support the them. This year I’m gonna make sure I spend more time in Artists Alley. Maybe I’ll even get myself another signed comic book and some awesome artwork.
Panels and Workshops
I know people don’t go to Comic Con Cape Town to listen to people talk all day, but I do. The panels are my favourite part, not just the quizzes or the celebrity interviews – but the panels where I can actually learn something. I like to take in as much information as possible to better my brand and to grow The Movie Guy. There are a bunch of awesome panels that I’m looking forward to this year.
Activations
Did you know that Netflix will have a Squid Game acitvation? And that Dricus du Plessis will be part of a Checkers UFC activation on Saturday? Oh and did I tell you about The Last of Us experience? I practically haven’t shut upped about season 2 for the past month. M-Net will have a special experience for all of us TLOU fans. And that’s only a few. There will also be another HintHunt experience.
Food, Friends and all things New
I eat a lot, so obviously I’m looking forward to the Food Truck village. I also look forward to meeting all of you – we might’ve never met in-person but you are all friends to me. I can’t wait to make new friends and to experience this awesome convention with you all. I haven’t event talked about all the amazing vendors yet. There are some stalls that I just can’t wait to pay to a visit to.
Honestly, these 5 things don’t even summarise everything I look forward to at this year’s Comic Con Cape Town. I know it’s going to be legendary. What’s the one thing you look forward to most at this year’s convention?
