Have you ever gone on holiday to enjoy time with your family and then things go horribly wrong?

Well, bad things seem to follow Hutch Mansell, played by Bob Odenkirk, even when he is looking to just take a break. Nobody 2 continues the story that started with the first movie, but this time the action is turned up to a higher level. This isn’t just an action movie, it’s the perfect dad movie.

I loved the first movie because it was grounded, yet the action felt larger than life. Hutch is just an ordinary guy who has a special set of skills that brings trouble to his doorstep. After taking on too many “work assignments,” he decides to take his family on vacation, but an unfortunate incident leads to a bunch of bad guys dying.

I usually say I look at the story first when I review a movie, but this movie is different. It’s not story-driven, it’s action-driven, and that makes it fun. It’s a film that doesn’t take itself too seriously and knows when to use emotion to get the audience interested in the characters.

Talking about characters, the movie gives us more of them with the Mansell family, but there isn’t much character development. We do see all of them get drawn into the action, which is something fun to watch.

Since this is an action film, I should probably talk about the action. The movie sets up numerous creative ways for the action sequences that are really fun to watch. I love the fight choreography, as it is meant to look sloppy and grounded but still deadly. I can’t say too much, otherwise I might spoil the movie.

If you watched the first movie, then you know exactly what to expect—it’s basically the story of a middle-class John Wick. And that makes it seem like any one of us can be the main character. It is a movie created to be entertaining and engaging.

Bob Odenkirk is once again phenomenal, which I love. He is joined by Sharon Stone, who plays a menacing villain, and she is such a treat to watch. They are joined by Christopher Lloyd, Connie Nielsen, John Ortiz, and RZA.

This is the type of movie I know my dad will love—I guess that’s why they call it a dad movie. And this is the kind of movie I’d watch when I just want to sit back after a long day and be entertained. It’s definitely worth watching on the big screen, because those action scenes are immersive and pair well with good surround sound.
