Comic Con Africa is almost here, and I’ll be heading up to Johannesburg on 27 August to get ready for four incredible days starting on the 28th.
As many of you know, I can’t do it without help. I still need donations and sponsorship to make this trip possible. For me, Comic Con Africa isn’t just an event. It’s my work and the one place where everything I love together under one roof.
It’s also where I get to connect with the community, tell your stories, and share the excitement with everyone who can’t make it. But I can only do that if I can get there. If you’re able to support me, whether it’s through a donation, sponsorship, or even just sharing this message, it would mean the world. Every bit of help makes a difference. Please find the details on how to support me at the bottom.
I’ve been blessed with amazing partnerships so far, my transport to Johannesburg is covered and I will have accommodation and for that I’m eternally grateful. I will personally thank everyone who supported me on this trip. The only outstanding things I still need help with are the little things, like daily transport, data costs and of course food. I believe that someone out there will be willing to help.
Back to the con, this year’s Comic Con Africa is shaping up to be one of the best yet. Here are 10 things to look forward to and exactly why I don’t want you (or me!) to miss it:
1. Your Ultimate Family Day Out
KidsCon returns with fun for the little ones — gaming tournaments, workshops, and character meet-and-greets with Mario, Luigi, and even Geoffrey the Giraffe.
2. The Biggest Artist Alley Yet
More than 135 artists will showcase their work, from international names to local favourites. You can buy unique pieces or even commission your own.
3. Gaming for Everyone
Whether you’re a casual gamer or competitive, there’s something here — Tekken 8 tournaments, Gran Turismo 7 challenges, and esports finals that’ll have the crowd roaring.
4. Table-Top Adventures
Step away from screens and dive into classics like Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and more.
5. Cosplay is for Everyone
From casual competitions to the international stage, cosplay is one of the purest forms of creativity and expression. This year, international guests Yuji Koi and Majed Cosplay will be inspiring fans all weekend.
6. Shop Until You Drop
The shopping floor is heaven for collectors, with everything from rare comics to limited-edition collectibles and fan-made merch.
7. Main Stage Action
Big celebrity guests like Jessie T. Usher (The Boys), Misha Collins (Supernatural), and Dan Fogler (Fantastic Beasts) will be sharing stories, signing autographs, and meeting fans.
8. Outdoor Fun
From food trucks and live music to rage rooms and WWII reenactments, the fun continues outside with a festival vibe.
9. Immersive Activations
Disney+, Nintendo, AXE, and many more brands are bringing unique experiences to the floor — including MarioKart races and interactive fan zones.
10. The New Book Nook
A space for book lovers, with local authors, themed quizzes, treasure hunts, and meetups. It’s a reminder that Comic Con celebrates every kind of storytelling.
Comic Con Africa is more than just a convention, it’s a celebration of creativity, community, and connection. I want to be there to capture it all, but I need your help to make it happen.
If you’d like to support me with a donation or sponsorship, please reach out. Together, we can make sure this journey happens and that I can bring the experience of Comic Con Africa straight to you.
