I love superheroes, and I think that’s super obvious, but I never thought I’d get to put myself in their shoes. HintHunt Africa has this awesome escape room called Marble, and it made me feel like I could fight alongside my favourite heroes. They give you powers, they give you the skills, and they give you the magic to unlock a world like I’ve never seen before.

Now, I’ve done one escape room before, and I did terribly, but to be fair, I don’t always think quickly on my feet. When I got the chance to do Marble, I literally jumped at the opportunity because it was my chance to redeem myself. It was my ticket to prove to the world that no room can hold me, I will escape… I didn’t escape in time.

Now before I get into why I wasn’t able to finish the escape room in 75 minutes, I first need to take you back to August 1962. This was the month we were introduced to a character called Spider-Man. Of course, I wasn’t around back then.

Fast forward to May 2002, when Tobey Maguire first donned the webbed mask, and I knew that anyone can be a hero.

That’s why I had the confidence that I could escape in 60 minutes, but confidence can only get you so far. I think my team and I did pretty well. We advanced to one of the last stages of the escape room. The beginning was a little hard as we were trying to piece together what exactly we were supposed to do.

Once we got the hang of everything, it was almost smooth sailing. I love how an escape room requires teamwork, but at the same time gives each team member the opportunity to do what they’re good at. I, for one, was good at acting like I was about to be recruited into the Avengers.

I don’t want to give away the plot of Marble, as it is literally a story you have to complete yourself. I can, however, commend the HintHunt team for coming up with one of the most creative escape rooms ever. It literally makes the world of heroes feel real and makes you feel like you actually get to play a part in it.

The biggest reason we didn’t finish in time is because we didn’t focus enough on following the rules. So please make sure you follow the rules when you take part in escape rooms. Just like HintHunt’s mission room, Bomb Time, this was an experience I will never forget. To me, everything that has a story worth telling is something worth talking about, and Marble has an amazing story.

You don’t even have to have a strong love for superheroes to fall in love with Marble. It’s engaging, and I learned so much. Maybe next time I’ll be able to escape in less than 60 minutes.

For now, all I can do is give this experience 5 out of 5 stars. You have to go try it!
