Get your beer bellies ready and let’s celebrate over six decades of the Windhoek Oktoberfest next weekend.
After a two-year hiatus due the pandemic the local version of the Oktoberfest is back and ready to throw it down. Sponsored by Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) the festival is scheduled to take place at Sport Klub Windhoek from 27-29 October. If you were wondering, the special festbier is back with other beer brands, amazing food and entertainment for everyone.
The event promises to be two times bigger than the last. There will be a separate corporate event to allow companies to host and entertain their stakeholders and employees on the Thursday evening. This will be for over-18s only. Die Kirchdorfer a band from the Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany will also perform. They will be joined by the Jägermeister Brass Cartel, Riaan Smith and the Schuhplattler.
There will be additional food stalls and a wide variety of beverages available. This year there will also be vegetarian and gluten-free food options.
Nico Gericke, manager of experiential events at NBL said, “To ensure festivalgoers have a great experience we have gone to every effort to enhance our facilities such as toilets, bars and food stalls as well as our security services. We have also upgraded our cashless payment system for a convenient, user-friendly way to transact.”
This year the event is sponsored by Hansa Draught, Pupkewitz BMW, Eurowings Discover, Jägermeister (CIC), Radiowave and Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW). Tickets to the Windhoek Oktoberfest are available at any Pick n Pay (PnP) outlet in the country or can be purchased online through Webtickets.
