Let’s talk about two of the best movies of 2022 that I only got to watch in 2023.
In this week’s Double Feature Review I’ll look into one of the best thrillers and animated movies that came out over the last few weeks. I adore these movies and I can’t wait to dive deeper into them.
The Menu
This psychological thriller/horror is exhilarating. If you liked the first few saw movies and enjoyed Squid Game, then you will love this. I thought this was a movie about food and the culture around restaurant kitchens, but man-oh-man was I surprised.
The chef in this movie is the most ambitious psychopath. The movie follows a bunch of rich people who go dine at an exclusive restaurant, but there is something sinister on the menu. One by one the staff and guests are killed, all because of vendettas carried around by the chef.
It has an intriguing story and the characters are either lovable or despicable. In the end you will be glued to the edge of your seat hoping that your favourite characters survive. The movie drew me to the idea of the food, but in the end the chef kept me hostage with his illusive tricks.
My Rating: 8.5 out of 10 – Love it!
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
I didn’t know I wanted more Puss, but now I know I can’t get enough of him. I certainly didn’t expect this movie to be this awesome, but once again I was proved wrong. Puss in Boots is a standout character from Shrek and now he’s a standout character in his own second movie.
This was definitely a worthy sequel, even better than the first movie. It kind of makes me want more. The movie follows Puss as he tries to find a star to regain his nine lives after finding out he only has one life left to live. This sets him on the path to meeting some fun and interesting characters.
One of the things I love about this movie is the beautiful animation, kind of like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Man. It is a more immersive and entertaining experience. The voice acting is excellent and the story is enough to make a big guy like me cry. All-in-all, this is one of the best 2022 movies.
My Rating: 9.5 out 10 – Almost Perfect!
