I can’t believe Comic Con Africa has come and gone. It was the best one yet, and I have so much news to share.
Four days of fun that felt like the best workdays of my life, and that’s probably the best way to describe Comic Con. It was everything I hoped for and more. This year, I really felt like I got out of my shell, stepped out of my comfort zone, and made the best of the opportunities Comic Con Africa presented me.

When I think back to Comic Con Cape Town earlier this year, I only did around four interviews. At CCA, I did over 10, plus one really special one that I’ll talk about later. I spoke to artists, con-goers, and some of the owners of truly amazing stores.
I sat through multiple panels to get the best from the con. I also tried all the activations, even the ones I would normally avoid. Honestly, I feel like this Comic Con was about discovering new things about myself and being more courageous in my pursuit of becoming a better entertainment journalist and content creator.
Day 1 of Comic Con, I decided to focus on the activations first and meet up with some friends. The Disney and Axe activations were so much fun, and I never say no to some free stuff. It also gave me the opportunity to interview some friends at their stalls and highlight the amazing items they were selling.
Day 2 was all about the international guests. I made sure to sit through four hours of panels, and I didn’t regret a single minute. Getting to know more about the film and TV industry was why I was there in the first place. Dan Fogler, Jessie T. Usher, and Misha Collins had some awesome insights into the industry.

Day 3 was a little stressful, because not only did I want to attend all the panels, but I also wanted to get ready for what I think has been the biggest interview of my career. I had the opportunity to sit down with Misha Collins for a few minutes to talk about his work and just chat.
Misha is best known for his roles in Supernatural and Gotham Knights. Not only was this my first interview with an international star, but it was also the first video interview I’ve done with someone I admire. You can check out the full interview on my YouTube channel.
On the last day of Comic Con, I had to hang out with the artists. Artist Alley is always one of the highlights. I love seeing how people use their artistic gifts to express themselves. I also spent some time giving away movie tickets. I didn’t just want to make Comic Con special for myself, but I also wanted to give back to those who support my work.
The highlight of Comic Con was definitely getting to interview Misha Collins. Making new friends and chatting with people was another highlight. I’m so glad I got to attend Comic Con, not only did it push me to try new things, but it also felt like a step forward in my career.
This wouldn’t have been possible without everyone who watches, likes, and shares my videos and posts. I’d also like to thank Shivek, Jaundre, Khethiwe, Jean-Luc, George, Anuska, Devin, Rayno, Christie, Ruan, my parents, ALD Solutions, and CineCentre for their support.
