Don’t Mess with Time

Space, time and a lot of family drama… The new season of The Umbrella Academy finally dropped last Wednesday and it is as exciting as ever.

In the third season the Umbrella Academy has to go up against their siblings from a new timeline, the Sparrow Academy. It’s evident that the siblings won’t get along and this immediately leads to one of the shows best fight scenes.

If you’re a fan of Footloose than one of the opening scenes will definitely play on your heart strings. If you haven’t watched the season three yet, then this is a good enough reason to at least try it. Or at least stream the first episode.

Anyway, the show kicks off where season two ended; the team finds themselves going up against a stronger team, theSparrow Academy and a new apocalypse. This time Vanya or Viktor can’t safe them and even Five seems to have given up.

In this season some of the team members have to do some self-discovery, while others have to deal with new demons they’ve created. All of this causes the team to break up and forces them to forgive each other to try and stop the end of the world.

I know, it seems like they’re rehashing the same story over and over again, but I promise this time is different. At least different enough to make Klaus and Five the stand out characters again. They really hold the show together and in some ways the family as well.

You can again expect some funny, whacky, crazy and fun times with The Umbrella Academy and even Luther gets some love. The season might not be an improvement of its predecessor, but it it’s still an awesome time. I definitely hope it gets a fourth season, but if not, then at least I know they ended on a pretty decent note.

My Verdict

The show is still fun, just ignore the elements you don’t like and enjoy the rest. It might not be the best superhero show on TV, but it’s still one that hits close to home. I know it’s worth watching and I hope it gets renewed. So go to Netflix and start streaming.

My Rating: 7.0 out of 10 – Good
