The Conjuring franchise is back and once again It delivers on the thrills and maybe some scenes that will trigger nightmares.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It the latest film in the franchise sends the Warren couple into unknown territory and they don’t know what’s waiting for them on the other side. Once again the pair takes on a task that will literally raise the hairs on your body.
This time around the series takes on a much darker but welcoming tone. This isn’t your ordinary haunted house horror film, this is something more sinister. The Warren’s are brought in to investigate a case of possible demon possession.
Like most Conjuring films there is always more to the story. The opening alone is something that will definitely please all horror fans, but unfortunately it becomes a little stale afterwards. The movie drags a little and shifts a little from the full on horror tone, which might not always be a bad thing.
In my opinion The Devil Made Me Do It is a good film, but it is subpar to the previous main instalments in the Conjuring franchise. It just lacks something, maybe it’s the story or maybe it’s haunted houses.
Other than that the film is a good watch for horror fanatics. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as Lorraine and Ed Warren really saves the movie from not being just okay-ish. The movie has its great moments, but not enough to make it completely memorable. Is it something I enjoyed? Yes. Is it something special? No. Compared to A Quiet Place Part II it definitely takes a low second place.
Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren take on one of the most sensational cases of their careers after a cop stumbles upon a dazed and bloodied young man walking down the road. Accused of murder, the suspect claims demonic possession as his defense, forcing the Warrens into a supernatural inquiry unlike anything they’ve ever seen before.
My Verdict
The movie might not live up to its predecessors, but it’s still really good. Like most horror movies, seeing it at the cinema just amps up the thrills and suspense. I’ll definitely watch it a few times and I will definitely recommend that all horror fans go check it out.
My Rating: 6 out of 10 – Could Have Been Better
