The Fast Saga (that’s what they call the Fast and Furious movies now) is finally back after a bunch of delays, but is it worth the wait?
Like most people I feel the series should have ended a long time ago, especially after the tragic passing of Paul Walk, however I still enjoy a good action movie. These movies always seem to outdo themselves and it’s the same with F9 aka The Fast and the Furious 9.
The franchise is known for its adrenaline pumping action set-pieces and you’ll be glad to know that they are totally awesome in this. Now I don’t want to spoil the movie, a lot of the action scenes were included in the trailers anyways.
The super unrealistic, physics-ignoring scenes are definitely the best part of the movies. It combines great visuals with some actual stunts and explosions or whatever. It’s just fun to see some good action after a year of mostly bad or mediocre action movies.
The cast is once again great and I’m actually excited about John Cena’s addition, but he seems to not be on the screen for most of his scenes. Vin Diesel looked kind of stupid growling to himself, but he still did a good job. The rest of the cast is once again awesome and you get exactly what you expect from the. Also two of them end up in space (not a spoiler, it’s in one of the trailers).
The biggest letdown of this movie is how unrealistic it is. The franchise had such humble beginnings and it was grounded, but now everything is over the top. Sure it seems like a lot of fun, but you have to draw the line somewhere, right?
Another thing that really bothers me is the lazy script, it doesn’t really add much to the franchise’s overall story. It actually makes it more confusing, it’s like the writers used to work on a soap opera – dead characters just seem to come back whenever they feel like it.
Okay, enough with all the criticism. Is the movie fun and entertaining? Yes, it is. Is it an better than Fate of the Furious? Definitely (that one actually sucked). Will I see it again? Of course, these movies are my guilty pleasures.
Dom Toretto is living the quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, but they know that danger always lurks just over the peaceful horizon. This time, that threat forces Dom to confront the sins of his past to save those he loves most. His crew soon comes together to stop a world-shattering plot by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered — Dom’s forsaken brother.
My Verdict
F9 might sound like a key on your keyboard, but it’s actually a key to having some fun during these troubling times. It’s just fun to enjoy a big blockbuster at the cinema again. The movie is worth the watch and so much more entertaining on the silver screen. Until Black Widow comes out, I’m going to saver every moment with the Fast Family and I hope you do too Salut!
My Rating: 7 out of 10 – Good
