It’s been almost a month since my last column, so I think I think it’s time I said something.
May has been an exhausting, but fulfilling month. It started with Comic Con Cape Town and ended with me almost leaving the country (well sort of). I think I’ve shared enough Comic Con content, but I just want to write one last paragraph about it before I move on.
I’m still in awe of all the people I met and who recognised me. It really gave me the confidence and drive to keep being The Movie Guy. It’s always amazing to meet people with similar interests and to just chat for a few minutes. I made some new friends and I got to have a little fun while working. Here’s to hoping I can go do the same at Comic Con Africa later this year.
And then I obviously have to talk about the elephant in the room. I accepted a weekly column gig from the Republikein in Namibia. This means that every week I get to share my voice with the Namibian people all the way from Cape Town. I’m honoured to once again write for the newspaper where my career started exactly 11 years ago. So be sure to check out my weekly column in the newspaper’s Kollig section every Friday.
Next up the survey – It has been great to get feedback from everyone. I read everyone’s ideas and I’m pretty sure I can make most of it work. I think I sent everyone who completed the survey [so far] a thank you email, I just feel like it’s respectful to have direct contact with the people who have my back. If you still want to take the survey then find the link below.
If you were wondering how I’m doing, I couldn’t be happier with The Movie Guy’s growth. I still have so many plans, especially now that we’re getting to the middle of the year. This column is just a short update, I will be sending out a full newsletter by the end of the month. So don’t forget to subscribe.
