It’s not just Superman, it’s not just Batman, it’s not just Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg, or Robin. It is a whole universe.
The DCU seems like it will be off to a strong start. James Gunn is doing what he does best, giving underrated characters the chance to have their time in the sun. I talked about my choices for the DCU Batman, Superman, Supergirl and even Booster Gold, but now it’s time to take a deeper dive.
Once again, Sydney Sweeney for Supergirl, anyway let’s continue. There are many characters in the upcoming DCU that I don’t know, so I probably can’t really give an opinion. And that’s why I’m going to focus on characters I know and love. So like, subscribe and let’s talk about my casting choices.
Green Lanterns
James Gunn has confirmed that at least two earth-based Green Lanterns will appear in Lanterns. They are John Stewart and Hal Jordan. This show will be like True Detective, so it will be awesome to see it happen. Here are my choices.
Hal Jordan
- James Roday Rodriguez: He’s got the looks, and he will actually be a fun Hal Jordan.
- Ryan Gosling: Depending on the story, I think Gosling might be ideal for the role.
- Glen Powell: He’s actually my first choice and by now he knows how to be a fighter pilot.
John Stewart
- Dulé Hill: Him teaming up with Roday will be awesome. This is just my fan casting.
- Sterling K. Brown: He is underrated and I think this is job that will shine light on his talent.
- Michael B. Jordan: Another great actor who can pull of John Stewart.
The Flash
I want to see a version of the Barry Allen that isn’t Ezra Millar. I love Grant Gustin in the role, but I think an unknown actor might be the perfect choice. Let’s talk about casting choices.
- Dacre Montgomery: I’m not sure about his comedic jobs, but he certainly fits the role.
- Cole Sprouse: I think Cole can be a great Barry Allen and this is solely based on his work on the Suite Life.
- Lucas Till: From MacGyver to the Flash, yeah I think that can work.
Martian Manhunter
A member of the Justice League that needs a little more credit and hopefully he will. He is an awesome and powerful character. He made a cameo in the Snyderverse, but now it’s time to make him a founding member of the JLA. Here are my choices.
- Laurence Fishburne: He made a great Silver Surfer, so maybe he can be a great martian.
- Terry Crews: I love Terry Crews. Let’s get Terry into the DCU.
I also had Lance Reddick on the list, but sadly he passed before I could post this. He would have been great for this role.
And that’s all folks. I’ll do some more DCU videos down the line, I’m just waiting for more news from James Gunn.
