I just finished watching The Terminal List and at first I was a little disappointed, but the story really grew on me.
Chris Pratt stars as James Reece, a man hell-bent on avenging the death of his fallen brothers and family. The action thriller tackles real world issues in an action-packed way. Reece is a one man army who is set on rooting out corruption in the US military and government.
The show starts out a little confusing, as the main character suffers from memory loss. At first it’s hard to make sense of the show’s tone and plot, but as it progresses you easily start to connect the dots. I like shows that can make me think a little and this one does.
Some of the twists you can easily predict and others are more complicated. Another thing is, things wouldn’t have gotten so out of hand if the characters just listened to each other. There are some elements of the show that’ll make you cringe, but I guess it is part of its charm.
It’s not a perfect show and that’s okay. It has an intriguing plot, a strong lead character, fantastic supporting characters, and over the top action scenes, so that makes everything okay. You can easily forget some of the lazy writing because some guy gets an axe straight to his head.
Apart from all the war and action scenes, the show is fun. You just need to stick it out through the first few episodes. I haven’t enjoyed an action thriller in a long time and The Terminal List is definitely enjoyable.
There are a few things they could have fixed and sometimes I wished they dialled back on the violence, but I get why it’s there. They wanted to show off Reece’s skill, but unfortunately that makes him seem like the villain at times.
Certain scenes are simply unnecessary, but I guess they had to fill up time between all the trippy memory scenes and gun battles. It definitely isn’t the best action show available, but it moves away from all the “woke propaganda” and just delivers a full-on action-packed story.
James Reece returns home after his entire platoon of Navy SEALs is ambushed, only to discover new dark forces working against him and endangering the ones he loves.
My Verdict
If you’re a fan of the John Wick, Rambo and Taken franchises, then this is your kind of show. It’s action upon action, with a lead character that will not back down until he reaches his goal. Do I recommend it? Yes, definitely. It’s a good watch and my kind of entertainment, but I don’t think it’s for sensitive viewers. So if you like the movies I mentioned then you should definitely stream The Terminal List now.
My Rating: 7 out of 10 – Good
