Can you hear the clock ticking? Comic Con Africa 2026 is almost here!
There is now just one month to go until Comic Con Africa with Capitec takes over the Johannesburg, and the guest list is one of the biggest yet. My tickets are booked and my alarms are already set, because there’s no way I’m missing Africa’s biggest pop culture event. This year there really is going to be something for everyone.

For movie, television and gaming fans, there is plenty to look forward to. One of the biggest names heading to Johannesburg is Christopher Judge, best known to gamers around the world as the voice of Kratos in God of War. Judge will be at the convention from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September, where fans can hear him talk about his career, his work as Kratos and his experiences in the entertainment industry. I really want to know what he thinks of Dave Bautista’s casting.
Animation fans are also in for a treat. Alison Sealy-Smith, the legendary voice of Storm in X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men ’97, will be joining the line-up, while Rick and Morty fans will get the chance to meet Ian Cardoni, Harry Belden and Spencer Grammer, the voices of Rick, Morty and Summer.

Then there is Richard T. Jones, who has spent more than three decades appearing in some of television’s biggest shows. From Judging Amy and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles to Hawaii Five-0, Narcos, Criminal Minds and The Rookie, there is a very good chance you’ve seen him in something. I have a few friends and family members who would love to meet him. I personally just want to chat to him about his role on Narcos.
But the international guests are only part of what makes Comic Con Africa exciting. The convention will once again showcase South African artists, creators, cosplayers, gamers and performers, with Artist Alley, gaming, anime, manga, workshops, panels and KidsCon all forming part of the four-day event.
Anime fans will have even more reason to attend, with some of the local cast of One Piece also set to appear at the convention and take part in a panel. I’ll be sharing more details about that closer to the event, so keep an eye on The Movie Guy for more.
And, of course, I will be there too.

I have officially been accredited as media for Comic Con Africa 2026, and I am currently raising funds to help cover the cost to get to Johannesburg, accommodation and the other expenses involved in bringing you coverage from the convention.
Comic Con is one of my favourite events to cover, and I want to make sure I can bring you interviews, videos, photographs, articles and all the biggest moments from the show. If you’d like to support The Movie Guy’s Comic Con Africa trip, every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a difference.
Comic Con Africa with Capitec takes place from Thursday 24 to Sunday 27 September, from 09:00 to 18:00 daily. One month to go. I can’t wait.
