Hello, there. The Star Wars saga continues with Obi-Wan Kenobi and it’s off to a quite impressive start.
It’s been a long time since we last saw Ewan Mcgregor as the Jedi Master, but it’s been worth the wait. The show was something fans were asking for and now we finally get to see how Ben Kenobi handles life on Tatooine. I just hope they don’t mess it up.
The show starts with an amazing opening sequence which takes place during the execution of Order 66 at the start of the Clone Wars. It shows how some of the younglings and Jedi escaped death. It then cuts forward 10 years where we finally see how Obi-Wan settled into his new life on the desert planet.
Kenobi chose to protect young Luke Skywalker until he is old enough to be trained in the ways of the Jedi, unfortunately we don’t get to see much of Luke from the get-go. We do however get to know more about the Organas and their life on Alderaan.
This is where the story intertwines, Obi-Wan gets called back into action after young Leia is kidnapped. He has to leave Tatooine while being chased by Inquisitors who are set on eradicating the Jedi for good. Kenobi has been out of action for a while, so he’s not the hero we remember from the prequels.
The first episode is a slow burn and I get that they need to introduce and reintroduce characters, but they put all the action on the back burner. Episode two brings a lot more action into the fold and some lightsaber fights, which is always fun to watch.
The show doesn’t immediately give off a wow-factor like The Mandalorian, but I’m sure they’re building towards it, as we haven’t seen Darth Vader in action yet. We know how powerful the Sith Lord is and I can’t wait for a rematch between him and Obi-Wan.
The visuals are once again stunning as in most Star Wars related shows. You get to explore more of the galaxy far far away. The new characters also add a new dimension and depth to the franchises lore and I totally love young Leia, that’s the princess we need.
The show might have had a rocky start, but it quickly takes a turn for the better. Ewan being back in the driver’s seat is such a blessing. Two episodes in and I’m hooked.
The Jedi Master contends with the consequences of his greatest defeat — the downfall and corruption of his one-time friend and apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
My Verdict
It’s been awhile since we got to see Obi-Wan in action, so I guess it will take a few episodes before he’s ready to take on Darth Vader and I’m waiting patiently. The show definitely will just get better, or so I hope. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
My Rating: 8.2 out of 10 – Love it.
