One thing I learned in life is that I can’t do everything on my own. I need support and I need help to accomplish my goals and to move forward.
I have been invited to cover Comic Con Africa in Johannesburg this September. As the only Namibian media representative I will have to create content and produce articles for local media house. It’s a great privilege to cover the event.
I’m so excited to be part of the biggest pop culture event. I was supposed to attend Comic Con Cape Town in 2020, but due to the pandemic everything was put on hold. I was part of the 2019 edition of Comic Con Africa and I had the opportunity to mingle with artists, writers, musicians, filmmakers, actors, journalists, game developers and other entertainers from across Africa.
This isn’t just a milestone for me, but a milestone for all Namibians and I once again look forward to making our people proud. I will cover the event live through The Movie Guy’s social media platforms (see below) and I might share an article here or there and I will also do write-ups for other local newspapers.
And here comes the “support part”. I need at least N$15 000 for the whole trip. This includes transport to and from Johannesburg, transport in the city, accommodation, food and other expenses. I have a full expense breakdown for those who are interested.
I’ve reached out to various local companies for sponsors but I haven’t heard back.. Thus, I’m reaching out to you, my family, friends, followers, and even those who don’t know me. I need to raise the money before the middle September and I am really hoping I can count on your support.
I’m willing to send you any other information that you need and I will definitely give you a shout-out on The Movie Guy’s pages.
Sponsorships of any value will be appreciated. Anything from N$10 up or down will go a long way. I’m currently a freelance writer and content creator so I don’t earn much. Comic Con Africa might be the one thing I need to make a mark.
I will also do a video series on my YouTube channel leading up to the event to keep everyone up to date of what’s to come and how you can continue to support me. Please share this article and all the posts with your family and friends.
You can send an e-mail to themovieguy.nam@gmail.com for more info or if you want to sponsor me. Alternatively, you can complete the sponsor form on my website.
