The Best Kind of Action

Tekken: Bloodline dropped last week and it is a bloody start to what might be a reboot of the franchise.

The show is based on the videogame Tekken 3, which is my favourite of the series. I still remember staying up all night playing the game with my cousin. Bloodline is a loose adaptation of the game, but thankfully it keeps all the important elements.

The show is off to a struggling start but it quickly progresses to some amazing anime fights. I watched both the dubbed and Japanese versions, just because I could and I was not disappointed. The visuals are as great as you can expect from most anime shows.

The biggest problem is the story. I get it, they had to change a few things to successfully adapt the source material for TV, but they left out some really cool aspects of the game. They also left out some of my favourite characters; hopefully they will appear in the second season (fingers crossed).

I don’t want to complain too much since I actually enjoyed the show, but I know it could’ve been better. The voice acting of both versions are outstanding. The action is fantastic, I love myself some gruesome and over the top anime fight scene.

The show is worth watching if you’re a fan of either anime or videogames; it’s definitely better than those awful movies. All fighter videogames should be turned into anime and not messed up live action movies.

My Verdict

The show is decent enough to entertain you, but it might be disappointing to some. All I can say is give it a chance and it will grow on you after the second or third episode. And the show is anyway only six episodes long. I even think it’s worth re-watching. I appreciate this adaptation although nothing can ever be as perfect as Tekken 3.

My Rating: 7.0 out of 10 – Good.
