The Things That Happened at Comic Con (so far)

We’re halfway through Comic Con Cape Town, and I decided to take some time out of my busy schedule to write this, simply because my website has been quieter than a morgue.

Comic Con has been amazing so far. If you don’t believe me, then go check out my Instagram and TikTok. The first two days were exhausting, but I felt productive. This year, I took a different approach to how I do my work. I used to just wing it and see what the Con threw at me.

This year, I took a more reserved and somewhat planned-out approach. Thursday and Friday were mostly for my long-form content; I focused mainly on the celebrity panels. I also attended panels that I thought might help me grow as a writer and content creator. So yes, I did some things that were mostly for my own benefit and not really for The Movie Guy.

That said, I did get to do a few interviews and interact with so many wonderful and creative people. I don’t think I could ever pull off a cosplay, but I appreciate all the cosplayers so much. The work they put into bringing their versions of characters to life is admirable. The world really is filled with cool people, and most of them live right here in Cape Town.

Apart from the cosplayers, I also met some other amazing people. I appreciate every single person who comes up to me to say hello or who just waves at me from across the room. I actually met most of the people I now call my friends at Comic Con Cape Town 2024 and 2025. So hopefully, more of you will become my friends too.

I’m really blessed that I get to do all of this. It might just seem like a passion project to some, but to me, it’s everything. I’m grateful for every moment I get to live out this dream, and I can’t say thank you enough to everyone who makes this possible. Every like, comment, share, and follow helps make all of this a reality.

I’ll still share a special thank-you note to everyone who makes all of this possible for me. I’m just a geek who gets to do what he loves, and I get to enjoy it with people who love the same things I do. Anyway, I should probably end this column here. I still have editing and planning to do, and by the time you read this, I’ll probably be done with all of it.
