Welcome to the $2-Billion Club

Only a handful of movies have ever raked in more than 2 billion US dollars at the box office and I just feel like talking about them.

Avatar: The Way of Water recently joined the club and it became one of six movies to reach this milestone. Four of these came out over the last four years and somehow Disney has ownership stake in all six. Three were made by James Cameron.

So before we talk about them please like, subscribe and share this. Let’s get to it.

Avatar

The first Avatar came out in 2009 and it was a pop culture phenomenon. James Cameron reinvented the way we watched movies. It wasn’t a masterpiece, but it was something special. The movie has been released several times over the last decade and so it’s gross keeps rising. It currently has a gross of more than $2.9 billion and it is the highest grossing movie of all-time.

Avengers: Endgame

It brought an end to a saga, and was once the highest grossing movie. The last Avengers movie was awesome and I might say at was one of the most anticipated films of the last decade. It currently has a total gross of nearly $2.8 billion, and it might go up after some re-releases.

Avatar: The Way of Water

It’s currently at around $2.25 billion and counting. It overtook Titanic recently. This is the third James Cameron movie and his latest to cross the $2 billion mark and honestly, it’s a really great movie. James Cameron knows how to tell a good visual story.

Titanic

Another James Cameron movie and the only one that isn’t science fiction, I guess. Titanic was also the number one movie once upon a time, until Avatar overthrew it. It currently stands at almost $2.2 billion.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Taking us to a galaxy far far away is the first in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. It grossed just over $2 billion and rightfully so. We waited a long time for it and some of us had fun at the cinema.

Avengers: Infinity War

The movie I consider as one of the best in the MCU grossed just over $2 billion. This movie was the beginning of the end of a saga we all adored. It reinvented the superhero genre in my opinion and it opened the door for more movies into the exclusive $2 billion club.

That’s all folks. Don’t forget to like and subscribe.
