We’re Going to Comic Con

Can you believe in a little over the month we’re going back to Comic Con Cape Town?

Can you believe in a little over the month we’re going back to Comic Con Cape Town?

I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since the last Comic Con, but I’m so excited that another is right around the corner. There’s a lot to look forward to, but mostly seeing Evanna Lynch. Also, Burger King will be there which is awesome, I no longer have to walk across the street to get my lunch.

Comic Con Cape Town will take place from 30 April to 3 May 2026 and it’s at the CTICC 2 once again. Four days of gaming, movies, comics, cosplay, and everything in between. It is one of the biggest pop culture events in the country, bringing together fans, creators, and industry voices in one space.

What makes Comic Con special is not just what’s on the schedule. It is the atmosphere. It is a place where people get to be fully themselves, where creativity is everywhere, and where stories come to life beyond the screen.

That is why it matters for me to be there.

As an independent freelance journalist and apparently content creator, I do not just attend events like this for myself (maybe a little bit for myself). I go to cover them for the people who cannot be there. The ones who still want to see what is happening, hear from guests, discover new games, and experience the energy through content. That is what I have always tried to do with The Movie Guy.

This year, I have been added to the media list again. It is an opportunity I do not take lightly. But being independent also means there is no company covering the costs. Everything from transport to being able to spend full days on the ground comes out of my own pocket.

So, I am asking for a bit of support.

If you are able to contribute, even something as small as R50, it will go directly toward helping me attend and cover Comic Con Cape Town properly. You are not just helping me get there. You are supporting the content, the interviews, the videos, and the stories that come out of it.

If you would like to help, you can send me an email or fill in the form below.

If you cannot contribute financially, sharing this or simply supporting the content still goes a long way.

This is more than just an event for me. It is part of the reason I do what I do. And this year, I want to show up and tell those stories properly.
